TRADING STANDARDS INVESTIGATE MISLEADING GLUCOSAMINE SULPHATE CLAIMS.

Trading Standards have recently been investigating misleading and
confusing dosage claims.
Many products being sold are labeled as Glucosamine Sulphate 1,500mg, 1,000mg or 500mg on the front of the label but do not actually contain these levels when you read the back of the label.
This is misleading and confusing for customers.
Glucosamine Sulphate is always attached to a salt, Potassium Chloride (KCI) or Sodium Chloride (NaCI), this salt has a weight
Therefore to be able to claim Glucosamine Sulphate 1,500mg on the front of the label the manufacturer must add 2,000mg of Glucosamine sulphate 2KCI to be able to make this claim.
Trading Standards are investigating because many companies are claiming Glucosamine Sulphate 1,500mg and only adding 1,500mg of Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCI, which only gives a Glucosamine Sulphate claim of 1,129mg.

.Every major study that has been done using Glucosamine Sulphate has measured the effectiveness of Glucosamine Sulphate excluding the salt (2KCI). Including the recent study, which proved 1,500mg of Glucosamine  once a day was the most effective dose for relieving arthritic pain
and not 1,500mg of Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCI.
